25 Fugitives Arrested in Four-Day Operation

A four day operation conducted in Kona by United States Marshals, the Hawai’i Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives took place in Kona earlier this week.

Twenty-five fugitives were arrested during the operation, and 42 outstanding state arrest warrants were executed. According to the U.S. Marshals, total bail for the warrants executed is $686,750.

The four-day operation targeted fugitives with outstanding state felony arrest warrants, with a focus on targeting fugitives wanted for crime of violence, including homicide, assault, robbery, firearms and explosives, sex offenses, narcotics, and gang and organized crime affiliations.

A total of 3.94 pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, 18 marijuana plants, and “various amounts” of acetaminophen with hydrocodone and hashish with supplies for narcotic distribution was seized from a residence where a fugitive was located and arrested on a firearms and narcotics warrant. The name of the arrested individual was not released.

Narcotics collected were turned over to HPD officers for further investigation and prosecution of new charges.

According to U.S. Marshals, the joint efforts, along with the Hawai’i High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, showcased the importance of multi-agency operations to “maximize resources and make the biggest impact against crime in our communities.”

Various federal, state, and county law enforcement agencies make up the U.S. Marshals Hawai’i Task Force.
