UPDATE: Flash Flood Warning Issued Through 10:45 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the Big Island through 10:45 p.m.

Hawai’i Emergency Management reports localized flooding and mudslides along parts of the Hamakua Coast, north of Hilo. Radar was showing rain falling and thunderstorms.

Some areas are seeing rain rates in excess of two inches per hour.

NWS says flash flooding is likely to occur in some areas

Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kapaau, Honokaa, Honomu, Kea’au, Laupahoehoe, Pahoa and Pepeekeo are included in the advisory.

A Flood Advisory issued for the Big Island has been extended once again, this time through 9:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service reports that radar data and satellite imagery indicate that thunderstorms will continue to produce heavy rain with localized flooding in the advisory area.

Rainfall was reaching levels up to two inches per hour in various Big Island areas, especially along the Hamakua Coast and portions of the Ka’u District.

The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory issued for the Big Island through 8:30 p.m.

Just before 5:30 p.m., radar was reportedly showing thunderstorms with heavy rain. Minor flooding is possible in the advisory area, in an areas including the Hamakua Coast, Puna, Kohala and Kona.

NWS officials say windward areas are seeing as much as two inchesof rain per hour.

Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Mountain View, Captain Cook, Volcano, Honokaa, Laupahoehoe, Kamuela, Waipio Valley and Honomu are all included in the advisory.

A Flood Advisory has been issued for the Big Island through 5:30 p.m.

Just after 2:30 p.m., the National Weather Service reported that radar, satellite, and weather spotters indicated areas of moderate to heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms along the windward side of the Big Island. Affected areas span from just north of Hilo to Mountain View and up to Volcano.

Locally heavy showers are also reportedly developing over the leeward slopes, near Saddle Road Junction to Keahole Point.

The Flood Advisory covers the entirety of the Big Island, with the exception of South Point.
