Real Estate Brokerages Launch Community Giving Fund
Nearly 200 Sotheby’s International Realty agents, staff, clients, and invited guests from four islands, including the Big Island’s MacArthur Sotherby’s International Realty, congregated at the Honolulu Museum of Art for their first annual gathering, an event showcasing the importance of being a close-knit community and the launch of their new fund.
Along with the Big Island group, representatives from Maui’s Island Sotheby’s International Realty were present, along with Oahu’s LIST Sotheby’s International Realty and Kauai’s Sleeping Giant Sotheby’s International Realty.
The event celebrated the “Art of Giving” and the support fund, which provides support to local programs and nonprofit organizations who have their focus on conservation of the natural environment, nurturing education and preservation of Hawai’i’s unique culture.
“Investment in these three key areas will help make for a better quality of life for Hawai’i residents and strengthen our communities, which is extremely important to us all,” said Dodie MacArthur, CEO and founder of MacArthur Sotheby’s International Realty. “The Hawai’i Community Foundation’s goals are our goals.”
The newly launched fund is a philanthropic endeavor that was created through combined efforts with the four island affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty.
“Because the Hawai’i Affiliates of Sotheby’s International Realty operate in communities across the state, the kick-off event allowed our participants to come together to recognize donations made to date and gain more inspiration as we work toward greater support of our community,” said Paul MacLaughlin, Island Sotheby’s International Realty principal broker and owner.
Various speakers took the stage to discuss the “Art of Giving,” including Tom Kelly, Hawai’i Community Foundation vice president; Matthew Bauer, Chief Operating Officer of KUPU; and Paul Jackson, a grant recipient, as well as Lemonade Alley founder Steve Sue, who spoke about how giving has shaped his own life, personally and professionally.
