A Small Craft Advisory is posted for waters to the south and west of the Big Island as well as the Alenuihaha channel through 6 p.m. Friday. East winds up to 25 knots and seas up to 12 feet are expected. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Looking Ahead
Breezy trade winds will continue through Friday. Showers will continue to focus over windward and mauka areas with a few passing leeward from time to time. A disturbance high in the atmosphere and a tropical system could possibly combine to produce an extended period of wet weather starting as early as Saturday. Uncertainty in the forecast is still very high since this tropical system has yet to form and models don’t handle these types of forecasts very well. Will keep an eye on it.

Today we expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers for windward and mauka spots. The Kona side is forecast to be clear in the morning with building clouds and scattered showers in the afternoon. High temperatures from 86° to 91°. Northeast winds are forecast around 15 mph.

Northeast winds are expected in the evening around 15 mph. Low temperatures from 72° to 77°. Mostly cloudy skies are expected in the evening with scattered showers for windward areas and clearing skies in leeward spots.
