HFI: Hale Building Workshop Series Continues

The Hawai’i Forest Institute will continue its Traditional Hale Building Workshop Series at the Pana’ewa Zoo Rainforest & Gardens on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Traditional Hawaiian hale builder “Unko” Waltah will conduct the workshop, bringing his knowledge to the continued construction of the Hale Mala at the Pana’ewa Zoo Discovery Forest.

Workshop participants will learn about Hawaiian culture and learn how to build a structure out of materials that come from the land.

It is advised that indiviuals wear closed toed shoes, sunscreen, and bring rain gear.

HFI’s “MAHALO ‘AINA: Give Back to the Forest” Initiative, supports restroation efforts across the state, including the Pana’ewa Zoo Discovery Forest.
