Kona Library to Host Hawai’i CC – Pālamanui Meeting
After opening last month for the Fall 2015 semester, Hawai’i Community College – Pālamanui will hold an informational meeting witha focus on higher education opportunities in West Hawai’i.
Carrie Kuwada Phipps, Educational Specialist with Hawai’i CC – Pālamanui and the University Center West Hawai’i, will have a presentation at the Kailua-Kona Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Although the formal presentation begins at 5:30 p.m., Phipps says she’ll be at the library earlier to assist prospective students through the online application process.
Phipps will discuss information on higher education opportunities, reasons for choosing Palamanui, new initiatives currently in the works, and tips on navigating the Hawai’i Community College website. In addition, information about the new campus will be available, along with learning tools to prepare students for Compass testing and information on the programs offered.
The campus of Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui is also the home to the University Center at Pālamanui, which offers Bachelor’s and graduate degrees from other University of Hawai’i campuses, such as Manoa, Hilo, and West ‘Oahu. The extension means that individuals in West Hawai’i can obtain one of more than 40 degrees from the university campuses while they live in West Hawai’i, with support from the University Center at Pālamanui.
Applications for the Spring 2016 semester are now available, as is the Fall 2016 application period for many of the graduate programs offered through the University Center at Pālamanui.
