West Hawai’i Community Heath Center Receives $50K

West Hawai’i Community Health Center was a recipient of a $50,000 check from the Bank of Hawai’i foundation.

The funds were given by the foundation to offer support for the center’s newest health care facility in Kealakehe and part of West Hawai’i Community Health Center’s $1 million “Life That Matters” capital campaign.

“We are very grateful for the generosity of the Bank of Hawai’i Foundation. This grant will help us grow much needed health care services and continue to help us make a difference in the lives of our West Hawaii ohana,” stated Richard Taaffe, West Hawai’i Community Health Center Chief Executive Officer. “Because of dedicated foundations such as Bank of Hawai’i, West Hawaii Community Health Center is answering the needs of our community to ensure that no one is denied health care services because of income or lack of insurance coverage.”

After being operational for 12 months, the center predicts that its Kealakehe facility will serve 5,200 patients. Once fully operational, the number is projected to be closer to 7,500.

West Hawai’i Community Health Center – Kealakehe is a 10,500 square feet facility that provides medical and dental services for north Kona and communities in the surrounding area.
