Schatz Internship Program Accepting Applications

Students interested in a hands-on learning opportunity about the United States Senate, including a forum for students to share issues and information with Senator Brian Schatz and his staff, are invited to apply for the third annual Schatz Seniors High School Internship Program.

The program encourages students to be leaders and advocates in their schools and communities. Student participants will work will outreach staff, identify issues of interest in their schools and communities, and attend special staff events.

“The Schatz Seniors program is an incredible opportunity for our office to work with the future leaders of Hawai‘i.  We have interns across the state who are engaged in their communities, and I look forward to working with them every year,” said Senator Schatz.

According to Senator Schatz, office students should miss little or no class time as a result of the tasks or assignments related to the program.

Internships run from October 2015 through April 2016 and interns are required to commit to the entirety of the program.

Seniors at public, private, charter,  home school can apply for the internship. Students are required to have a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average and have personal access to e-mail throughout the internship.

The selection of seniors will be based on their involvement in their community, the diversity of interests, and life experiences, in addition to demonstrated leadership involvement.
