Hurricane Jimena Moves into Central Pacific

Hurricane Jimena has moved into the Central Pacific basin and will begin to be tracked by the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
As of the National Hurricane Center’s 5 a.m. advisory, Hurricane Jimena was holding onto Category 3 strength with maximum sustained winds of 120 miles per hour. The storm was about 1,000 miles east of Hilo, traveling at a rate of 10 mph in a west-northwest direction.
Hurricane Ignacio has taken its expected turn to the west-northwest and is now moving onwards and weakening in the subtropical ridge.
Forecasters say gradual weakening is expected to take place over the next 48 hours.
