No Tsunami Threat Following 6.6M Solomon Islands Earthquake

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a 6.6 magnitude earthquake near the Solomon Islands.

According to the PTWC, the earthquake occurred Friday at 9:47 p.m. Hawai’i time.

United States Geological Survey officials say the earthquake was located 132 miles west of Lata, Solomon Islands; 285 miles east southeast of Honiara, Solomon Islands; 386 miles northwest of Luganville, Vanuatu; 554 miles north northwest of Port-Vila, Vanuatu; and 653 miles east southeast of Arawa, Papua New Guinea.
