Guillermo Showers Expected Today

A High Surf Advisory has replaced the warning previously in place for the Big Island’s east shores. The advisory is posted through 6:00 a.m. Friday. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.

We expect high temperatures from 83° to 88°. East winds are expected around 15 mph. Mostly cloudy skies are forecasted with frequent showers in the morning then numerous showers in the afternoon. Leeward spots are expected to be sunny to start with building cloud cover and afternoon scattered showers.

Tonight
Mostly cloudy skies are expected with numerous showers for windward spots. Leeward spots should be partly cloudy with isolated showers. Northeast winds are forecasted from 15 to 20 mph. Low temperatures from 71° to 76° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Tropical depression Guillermo located northeast of the state is forecast to continue to weaken and move west of the state Friday. Guillermo will bring scattered showers over the state tonight mainly for windward areas. A few lingering showers will likely get caught up in the building east-southeast winds behind Guillermo and pushed over the windward sides of the islands. This will be particularly true across the windward Big Island where the last outer cloud band pushes moisture onto the windward side Friday. East southeast winds will build in on Friday, and shift to trade winds Saturday into early next week.
