Fisherman from the island will once again have an opportunity to take part in the 19th Annual Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament, held Aug. 21-23.

The tournament is put on by the Hawai’i County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Last year, over 300 participants entered the event. Bobby Akana brought in the largest catch at 101 pounds.

There are a number of different divisions to participate in: keiki 5-12, teens, men, women, kūpuna 55 years and up, and ‘ohana. There will also be a special barbless circle hook challenge. Weigh-ins will be held on the final day of the tournament at the Honoka’a Gymnasium.
