Two Boaters Rescued Off Honokohau Harbor
Two people were rescued Saturday morning near Honokohau Harbor by the United States Coast Guard.
The individuals were aboard an 18-foot trimaran that became disabled, according the Coast Guard, and was taking in water.
Crewmembers aboard the Maritime Safety and Security Team Honolulu 91107 were notified that the trimaran was in distress.
Fourteen minutes later, crew members from the MSST 91107 arrived on scene in a 25-foot response boat. Upon arrival, the trimaran was found partially submerged. It was towed back to Honokohau Harbor.
Coast Guard officials say the MSST 91107 was patrolling the area while enforcing Operation Dry Water. The annual campaign occurs nationwide, raising awareness of dangers caused by boating under the influence.
