PISCES Presents Planetary Talk

The Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems, along with the University of Hawai’i at Hilo Department of Physics and Astronomy and Gemini Observatory, will sponsor a free public talk with Dr. Steve Howell on exoplanets and the Kepler Mission on July 7 at 7 p.m.

Dr. Howell is the project scientist for NASA’s Kepler Mission. During the presentation, he will discuss whether or not there are other planets like Earth in the universe and whether or not they could host life. In addition, Dr. Howell will reveal the latest findings in the search for habitable planets through the latest telescope mission. He will explore exoplanets and the implication for life in the universe.

Most recently, Dr. Howell was a member of the National Academy of Sciences panel on NASA’s constellation system. He also serves on a variety of panels, and has worked with NASA Headquarters to help establish the Kepler guest observer office at NASA/Ames research center and now works at the research center in California.

The presentation will be at UH-Hilo’s Science and Technology Building, Room 208.
