Hilo side: Knee/belly high waves expected today for trade swell magnets. Best breaks could get bigger on the sets. Small northwest brings ankle to knee high waves.
Kona side: Wave heights of knee/waist high are expected for the best southerly exposures. The best breaks could get tummy high waves on the sets from time to time.
South: Wave heights knee/waist high to tummy high on the sets are expected today.
Our current south-southwest swell will continue to fade Saturday.
A new small southwest is expected to build Monday, peak Tuesday in the waist high zone and then begin to fade. A new swell is also due in next weekend.
Our current northwest swell is forecasted to fade Monday and drop out Tuesday. Another small northwest is expected later this week.
Even though Hurricane Andres has fizzled in the East Pacific, the swell it generated is still expected to continue to impact the islands easing through early this week.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
