A single-vehicle crash in the Pu’uanahulu area of Kona left a man dead Monday night.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, officers responded to a 10:56 p.m. call, where they determined that a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been traveling south along Route 190, near mile marker 16, when it ran off the road and overturned, catching fire.

Police say the fire was extinguished and an unidentified man was found dead inside. He was the only passenger of the vehicle.

Speed and alcohol are suspected factors in the crash.
