A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all Big Island waters through 6:00 a.m. Tuesday. Northeast winds up to 40 knots are forecasted along with rough seas of 8 to 13 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Leeward spots will get lots of morning sunshine then clouds will build in the afternoon along with isolated showers. Hazy skies are possible for the Kona side in the afternoon (see UHSOEST vog model above). Windward spots are forecasted to get partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers mainly in the morning. Winds are expected out of the northeast from 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts. High temperatures from 80° to 85°.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight with scattered windward showers. Partly cloudy for leeward spots with isolated showers and clearing as the night goes on. Trade winds are forecasted from 15 to 25 mph. Low temperatures from 69° to 74° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Breezy trades are expected for the next several days. Showers will favor windward and mauka areas, with some of the larger showers reaching leeward locations at times. The trades are expected to decrease by the middle of the week. By Friday, a disturbance high in the atmosphere may develop near the Big Island and bring increasing showers over the eastern half of the island chain.
