Kona Patrol Officer Justin Gaspar was recognized as “Officer of the Month” for May by the Kona Crime Prevention Committee during a luncheon ceremony on May 6 at Huggo’s restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

Gaspar was honored for his investigative skills in two cases, described as “meticulous” and “exemplary” by Sergeant Mekia Rose.  His work in one case solved a string of car break-ins that took place one night on Honokōhau Street in Kailua-Kona, resulting in felony charges against a woman.

In another case, Gaspar recovered drug proceeds and crystal meth packaged for distribution while investigating a suspicious vehicle.  He arrested the occupants and advanced an ongoing drug investigation.

“Officer Gaspar is an asset to the Hawaiʻi Police Department and he should be should be commended,” Sergeant Rose said in nomination papers.
