Wave rider enthusiasts, wax your boards and put your best foot forward.  The 31st Annual Quiksilver and Big Island Toyota Pro-Am surfing trials are coming up at Honoli’i Beach Park in Hilo on Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24, waves permitting.

The 2015 surf challenge will include divisions in the following categories: men’s open, women’s open, open longboard (9’ and over) and open bodyboard.  Contestants must be Hawai‘i residents to register.  Entries are limited to 80, with a non-refundable fee of $60 which includes a t-shirt.

The event’s organizer and founder, Stan Lawrence of Orchidland Surf, says the contest aims to springboard Big Island surfers to Oahu to give them a chance to compete with the world’s best surfers in the world’s best surf on North Shore.

Finalists will be rewarded with prize packages including round-trip airfare to Oahu and entry in a Pro-Am North Shore surf competition.
