BIIF Softball Tournament Start Times Moved Up
Start times have been moved up for the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Softball Championships, held Friday and Saturday at the Old Kona Airport park.
According to BIIF softball coordinator Laurie Koustik, who serves as the athletic director at Kohala High School, the lighted softball field at the park is unavailable. This forced a late change to the game schedule for Friday and Saturday.
The first game of the Division II championship series between Kohala and Kamehameha-Hawai’i will now start at 2 p.m., an hour earlier than originally scheduled. The second game, the opener of the Division I championship series between Kea’au and Waiakea, will now start at 4 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule is also moved up by an hour. The second game of the Division II series will start at 10 a.m., followed by the second game of the Division I series at noon. If a third game is needed in either series, it will be played at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Because the lighted field is unavailable, games will now be held on the field directly behind the park’s tennis courts.
