Big Island’s Epic ‘Waterfalling Estate’ Reduced to $8.2 Million

Hawai‘i’s “Waterfalling Estate” is a striking residential complex overlooking two waterfalls and an endless ocean view.  With 10,942 square feet to inhabit, the home is not only a luxurious living space, but offers the amenities of an adult playground with an Olympic-sized swimming pool, water-slide, a dual-purpose tennis and basketball court, and private golf course.

The five bedroom, 5 1/3 bath property is nestled on the coastline in Ninole at Waikaumalo-Maulua Homesteads, and was originally offered for $26.5 million in 2013.  A Kansas City-based entrepreneur and property collector later purchased the estate at auction.  Now the 9.44 acre property is being offered for a third less of the original offer at $8.2 million.

Kelly H. Moran, principal broker of Hilo Brokers Ltd, which is offering the home, said “for a trophy property, this is a flat-out bargain.”

The current owners have decided to sell the estate at a reduced price to facilitate a sale in the interest of being closer to their grandchildren in Missouri, according to Moran.

Beyond the striking ocean and waterfall vistas, the home itself is a three-story, concrete superstructure built to withstand the tests of time and nature.  Its engineering and design are unique, to say the least, and much of the interior is paved with Travertine tile – the same material used by Michelangelo in St. Peter’s Basilica.  Since its construction, it has gained international recognition for its combination of natural and man-made beauty.

The property has been listed for sale by Hilo Brokers as of July 31.
