HPD Warns of Fake Raffle Tickets

Raffle tickets claiming to be from a seed shop in Hilo and being sold by a man in the Puna District are fake, according to the Hawai’i Police Department.

HPD is warning the public of the scam. The tickets, which have been described as pink, unnumbered, and printed with the name of the seed shop are being sold for $5.

The seed shop has confirmed that they are not offering raffle tickets.

Police say the man is approaching shoppers in parking lots within the Puna District and is asking for a $5 donation in return for a raffle ticket. He has been described as a local male.

Anyone with information about the incidents or the man involved is asked to call the Police department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
