A free business solutions workshop on Electricity Savings, sponsored by Hawai’i Small Business Development Center and Hawai’i Electric Light, will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hawai’i Community College, Manono Campus. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

Participants will learn about money saving strategies for their business through the use of smart business central, energy efficient technologies, and electric rates and billing basics with featured speaker David Kurohara.

Kurohara is a Business and Community Consultant for Hawai’i Electric Light. He first began with the company 15 years ago, serving as a program manager for the Residential Efficient Solar Water Heating Program. Since then, he has served as a Supervisor for Customer Service, where he was responsible for billing, call center, payment processing, meter reading, and field services.

A graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Kurohara also serves as District Chairman for the Aloha Council Boy Scouts, Pukahi District. He also recently joined the YMCA Board of Directors.

The workshop is free to the first 25 participants who sign up. Attendees will be provided a breakfast bento and refreshments.
