Scholarship Opportunity for High School Seniors
High school seniors from the Big Island and throughout the state who are interested in studying engineering, architecture, or construction management have a new scholarship opportunity.
Kiewit Building Group, Inc. announced Tuesday that the Kiewit Scholarship program is accepting applications for one of three $2,500 scholarships. The scholarships are awarded annually, totaling $45,000 in scholarship money to high school seniors from both public and private schools throughout the state.
“We’re proud to partner with Hawai’i schools for the seventh year in a row to offer our scholarship program and nurture students’ passion in a growing field,” said Sharon Ann Thom, senior vice president and Hawai’i area manager for Kiewit Building Group. “Today’s science and math students will become the engineers, architects and builders of tomorrow, as we’ve seen firsthand. Our program has truly come full circle with the hiring of past recipients from the program’s early years.”
Requirements to apply for the scholarship include a minimum high school GPA of 3.0, the intention to pursue a major in engineering, architecture, or construction management, acceptance as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited four-year university for the 2015-2016 academic year, and letters of recommendation.
In addition to the eligibility requirements, interested students must also provide an essay demonstrating excellence in academics and extracurricular activities, financial need, professional goals, and a statement on why they should be considered for the scholarship.
2015 scholarship entries must be post marked by March 30, 2015 and sent to the following address:
Kiewit Scholarship Committee, Kiewit Building Group Inc., 650 Iwilei Road, Suite 202, Honolulu, Hi 96817
