Live Mural Highlights ‘Our Night Out’ In Kona
The Brewery Block, home to Kona Brewing headquarters, will be transformed with the live painting and placement of a mural from 6 to 11 p. m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
The mural-painting is part of ONO Kona, or “Our Night Out, Kona,” a fundraiser for Mele Murals.
Mele Murals is an arts advocacy group founded by the Estria Foundation, which encourages leadership and storytelling in youth by giving them a platform to create art that’s deeply connected to the history of Hawai‘i, said an ONO Kona release.
The event will also feature Hawaiian-made crafts, food, a skateboard half-pipe, Kona Brewing Company beer garden and live music.
The team of artists, led by Estria and John “Prime” Hina of 808 Urban, will be painting a mural live on 4×8 boards that will be placed on the Makai Building within the Brewery Block.
“Everyone who attends ONO Kona will witness history in the making, as the artists’ mural will change the look of the Brewery Block forever,” said release for the event.
Ono Kona’s media partner, Pacific Media Group, will bring the KAPA radio station-sponsored stage and host a live radio remote broadcast on KAPA Radio.
Live musical performances will be showcased onstage throughout the evening.
