Puna Burglar Targets Gallon of Milk

Police charged a 25-year-old Puna man this week with various crimes, including the alleged theft of a gallon of milk Monday from a home in Ainaloa.

A 51-year-old woman told responding officers that she was at her home on Hilonani Street in the Puna subdivision when an unknown man entered the house and took a gallon of milk.

Police later found the suspect, identified as Lake Charles K. Lively of Pahoa, hiding in bushes nearby.

Police allegedly found Lively in possession of hydrocodone, a prescription pain medication, and marijuana.

Lively was charged Tuesday with burglary, theft, promotion of a harmful drug and promotion of a detrimental drug.

He was also charged with car theft in an unrelated case involving an Acura Integra reported stolen from a Kurtistown property in late June.

Bail for Lively was initially set at $38,000.

Police said when he made a court appearance for those offenses on Wednesday, Lively was arrested and charged with another count of car theft in connection with a Honda Civic stolen from a Kurtistown business and later found behind a vacant house in that town.

The additional offense raised his bail to $48,000.

Lively was being held at Hawaii Community Correctional Facility.
