The W.M. Keck Observatory is providing that opportunity tonight.
The public is invited to a rare look into an observing run using the observatory’s twin 10-meter telescopes atop Mauna Kea.
A team from UCLA’s Galactic Center Group headed by Andrea Ghez will be steering both telescopes to study the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way.

According to a Keck press release, the team will be studying an enigmatic object named GR and in the process setting up a test for Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity and gathering data on what the team describes as “The Paradox of Youth”: young objects developing around the black hole.
The viewing will take place from 9-10 p.m.
