BIIF Division II Girls Soccer Semifinal in Waimea Postponed
Today’s Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II girls soccer semifinal between East-Pac and Hawai`i Preparatory Academy has been postponed due to bad weather.
The entire Big Island has been under a Flash Flood Watch since early Tuesday morning. The watch lasts until 6:00 p.m.
Hawai`i Prep soccer coach and athletic director Stephen Perry said that his school’s fields were in good shape, but the “nasty” weather was enough for him to call off the match.
East-Pac, a combination of Christian Liberty and St. Joseph, will now travel to Waimea to face Hawai`i Prep on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Prior to that game, HPA’s boys soccer team will host Parker at 2:00 p.m.
The loser of Wednesday’s semifinal will have a tough road to get to the state tournament. The loser will play the next day at the loser of today’s Honoka`a/Kamehameha-Hawai`i contest. The winner of the third-place game goes on to the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts / Hawai`i High School Athletic Association Division II Girls Soccer Championships, but the loser of that game will have to travel to Kauai to face Kapa`a, the runner-up in the Kauai Interscholastic Federation, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. for the spot in states.
