Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission will conduct three public informational meetings this month on the Big Island to discuss Hawaiian Electric’s recent storm-related service outages and impacts.

Each meeting will include statements from Hawaiian Electric and the Consumer Advocate, along with opportunities for residents to share concerns and feedback about electric service reliability.

“Public input gathered at these meetings will help inform the commission’s ongoing review and future planning of Hawaiʻi’s energy system,” according to a news release from the commission.

These meetings come in the aftermath of Category 1 Hurricane Lala, which impacted the Big Island and several other locations in the state Aug. 15, knocking out power to thousands of customers.
