The meeting is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Nāʻālehu Public Library, located at 95-5669 Māmalahoa Highway.

Interim disaster housing is aimed at providing 2-bedroom, 1-bath homes on a site next to the library. The project would include a total of 12 homes, offering safe temporary housing for displaced residents as they work toward securing long-term housing options.

These homes would then, after the disaster recovery period, be used as interim workforce housing for educators and clinicians.

The meeting will give community members an opportunity to learn about the project, ask questions and provide input.

Community members unable to attend can email questions to input@communityvoice.net. Public comments will be accepted through Oct. 20.
