A water restriction notice is in effect immediately for Hawa‘i County’s Department of Water Supply customers in South Kohala as crews continue ongoing repairs to wells.

“Reducing water use will help to maintain water levels in the storage tanks for all customers,” according to a news release from the Department of Water Supply.

Affected areas include Kawaihae, Kawaihae Harbor, Hāpuna Beach Resort Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Puakō and Mauna Lani. Customers are being asked to reduce water use by at least 25% and irrigation customers are required to reduce use by at least 50%.

DWS asks customers to use water wisely and to not waste it. To learn more ways to reduce water use, visit the DWS website at www.hawaiidws.org, call 808-961-8050 during normal business hours or email dws@hawaiidws.org.

For after-hours emergencies, call 808-961-8790.
