Solid waste facility closures announced because of Ironman World Championship

West Hawaiʻi Sanitary Landfill and Kealakehe Recycling and Transfer Station will be closed Oct. 10 because of the Ironman World Championship.

Residents and businesses should plan ahead for disposal needs as road closures that day will make both facilities inaccessible.

Regular operations and services are scheduled to resume at the following dates and times:

  • Kealakehe Recycling and Transfer Station: 6 a.m. Oct. 11.
  • West Hawai‘i Sanitary Landfill: 7 a.m. Oct. 12.
