Upcoming University of Hawai’i at Hilo Vulcans events for Sept. 14-20
University of Hawai‘i at Hilo women’s soccer defeated Hawai‘i Pacific University 2-0 on Sunday at Vulcan Soccer Field in Hilo.
Both Vulcan goals came in the first half, one by defender Maia Hales and assisted by defender Brooke Peiler and the other a penalty kick goal by forward Elise Flores.

Hales took 2 total shots during the matchup, while Flores tallied a total 3 shots, the most individual shots for the Hilo woman during the game for the Hilo women, and each 1 shot on goal.
Hales, a redshirt sophomore from Eureka, Calif., was on the field a total of 46 minutes and Flores, a senior from Arroyo Grande, Calif., spent 63 minutes on the field.
The Vulcans took a total of 18 shots, with 5 shots on goal, along with 4 saves, 3 corner kicks and had 9 fouls throughout both halves. The Sharks tallied a total of 7 shots, with 4 shots on goal, plus 3 saves, 2 corner kicks and 8 fouls during the game.
The soccer match was the only home game slated this week for Vulcan sports.
