Big Island lane closures for week of Sept. 5-11

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises motorists about the following lane closures for the week of Sept. 5-11.

NOTE: In observance of Labor Day on Sept. 7 there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 0.0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of new striping and pavement markers.

HILO

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 2 to 4, in the vicinity of East Puainako Street and Lama Street on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TO GLENWOOD

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 14 to 20, in the vicinity of South Glenwood Road, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming.

VOLCANO

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 28 to 30, in the vicinity of Hawai‘i National Park, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for HELCO to remove old poles and conductors.

KEA‘AU

  • Lane shift possible in either direction between milepost 6.1 to 6.2, in the vicinity of Kipimana Street on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. to remove and replace curb delineators.

PĀHALA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 49.1 to 50.3, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to clearing, grubbing, paving, and pouring sections of roadway damaged by the storm.
  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 51.1 to 51.6, in the vicinity of Kamani Street on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For repair of roadway damaged by the storm.
  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 52.2 to 52.8, in the vicinity of Maile Street, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For repair of roadway damaged by the storm.
  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 53.8 to 54.7 in the vicinity of Kaalaiki Road. on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For repair of roadway damaged by the storm.

PUNALU‘U

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 54.7 to 56.6, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For repair of roadway damaged by the storm.

PĀHALA TO HONU‘APO

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 54.7 to 60.7, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For repair of roadway damaged by the storm.

HŌNAUNAU

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 101.7 to 102.1, from Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for improving drainage.

CAPTAIN COOK TO  HŌLUALOA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 109 to 119, in the vicinity of Koa Road and Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway, from Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

 HŌLUALOA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 117 to 119, in the vicinity of Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway, from Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 19

HILO

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction near milepost 1.7, in the vicinity of Pauahi Street, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of a new traffic light detection system.

HONOMŪ TO HAKALAU

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 13 to 16, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming.

NĪNOLE

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 17.9 to 18.2, in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work to improve Nanue Stream Bridge.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 29.2 to 32, in the vicinity of Old Mamalahoa Highway, Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on improvements to Kaholo Stream Bridge.

HIGHWAY 130

KEA‘AU TO PĀHOA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 0.0 to 21.8, in the vicinity of Mamalahoa Highway and Kaimu-Chain of Craters Road, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HIGHWAY 190

KALAʻOA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 29 to 35, in the vicinity of Onaona Drive from Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 200

UPPER WAIĀKEA

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 5.1 to 13.9, on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for emergency safety improvements on the roadway.

HIGHWAY 250

HĀWĪ

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 17 to 19, in the vicinity of Mamo Street and Akoni Pule Highway, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming and cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 270

HĀWĪ

  • Single lane closure possible in either direction between milepost 12 to 15, on Tuesday, September 8 to Friday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.
