The phone system at the Ka‘ū Police Station is not functioning properly due to Hurricane Lala impacts on the area’s surrounding fiberoptic network.

At this time, it remains undetermined as to when the station’s phone system will be restored, according to a news release from the Hawai‘i Police Department.

The station is currently open during normal business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for clerical services.

Those in need of police assistance are advised to call police dispatch at 808-935-3311 for non-emergencies or call 911 for emergencies, or visit the station in person.

The public will be updated when the phone service is fully restored.
