UPDATE: Māmalahoa Highway open to all traffic near 105-mile marker in West Hawai‘i

Update at 1:20 a.m. Aug. 23, 2026: Hawai‘i Island police report Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 11) near the 105-mile marker in Hōnaunau is open to all traffic.

That portion of the highway was previously closed because of a tree that fell onto the roadway. Hawai‘i Police Department thanks the public for its cooperation.
