Updated 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.

The National Weather Service has canceled the flood watch for the Big Island.

Tropical depression Moke was 515 miles east of Johnston Island, an atoll about 843 nautical miles southwest of Hilo, as of the 11 a.m. Monday advisory.

The storm has increased in speed and is now traveling west at 16 mph.

Continued weakening is forecast, and Moke is expected to degenerate to a remnant low-pressure area by Tuesday as it travels well south of the other Hawaiian Islands.

The following Hele-On bus routes are canceled for Monday:

  • Routes 2, 10, 12 and 90.
  • Route 75 at 6:15 a.m. (southbound to Kona)
  • Route 75 at 3:03 p.m. (northbound to Kapaʻau).

All other fixed routes should operate as regularly scheduled; however, delays, re-routing and cancellations could occur at a moment’s notice.

The Hilo park and ride spot on Kamehameha Avenue will be moved to the Kuawa Park parking lot if Kamehameha Avenue floods.
