Police invite keiki to participate in free car show in Hilo
Hawaiʻi Island’s young automotive enthusiasts are invited to showcase a vehicle in the first annual Youth Car Show at the Hilo Drag Strip on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Hilo Community Policing Section, in partnership with the Hawaiʻi Police Activities League and D.A.R.E. Hawaiʻi, are hosting the free, family-friendly event to bring the community together while showcasing the passion, creativity, and hard work of Hawaiʻi Island’s youth.
The Youth Car Show aims to provide young people with an opportunity to display their vehicles, meet others who share an interest in automobiles, and compete for awards in a positive environment.
Whether it’s a restoration project completed with family members, a first project vehicle, or a vehicle they are especially proud of, youth ages 17-years old and under are encouraged to register and share their accomplishments with the community.
Admission to the Youth Car Show is free and will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Hilo Drag Strip. Awards will be presented at the end in four categories –– imports, classics, trucks and other.
Community members are encouraged to attend and support Hawaiʻi Island’s young automotive enthusiasts. The event will also provide opportunities for families to connect with police officers and community partners while enjoying a day of fun.
