Hawai‘i’s hurricane insurance provider Zephyr Insurance will open a claim assistance center Aug. 19-20 at Allstate Insurance Agency – Nakoa Kai Professionals in Kailua-Kona to provide in-person assistance to policyholders on the Big Island impacted by Hurricane Lala.

Zephyr representatives will be available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days to help policyholders report hurricane-related damage, answer questions about policies and provide guidance about the claims process.

Additional dates and locations on the Big Island will be announced soon.

“A home is one of the most important investments someone can make, and we understand how difficult it can be to face significant damage following a hurricane,” said Zephyr Insurance Chief Operating Officer Garet Azama in a release. “As recovery efforts begin, our focus is on being there for our policyholders, helping them navigate the claims process and providing the support they need to begin moving forward.”

Allstate Insurance Agency – Nakoa Kai Professionals is located at 75-167 Hualālai Road, Suite 101, in Kailua-Kona.

Policyholders are encouraged to reserve a time in advance by clicking here. Walk-ins will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis as time permits.

Those seeking assistance with filing a claim in-person should bring a copy of their policy declarations page or have their policy number ready.

Policyholders who sustained damage are encouraged to document their loss by taking photographs and videos as well as making a list of damaged property and belongings.

Reasonable temporary repairs can be made to prevent additional damage, and receipts for emergency repairs, materials and services should be retained. Damaged property should not be discarded, when possible, unless it presents a health or safety hazard.

Policyholders do not need to visit the center to report a claim. They should contact their insurance agent as soon as possible.

Those unable to reach their agent can submit a notice of loss via the following methods:
