The Hawaiʻi Police Department reports the 911 Emergency Service number is not working on the Big Island.

Impacts from Hurricane Lala are affecting both radio and telephone communications.

If you have an emergency that requires police, fire or ambulance response, call the police non-emergency number 808-935-3311 with a landline (not a cell phone) or go to the nearest Fire Station for assistance.

“We are working to correct this problem,” the news release said.
