Hawaiʻi Department of Health authorizes reopening of Baan Thai Family Cuisine in Kailua-Kona

The Food Safety Branch of the Hawai‘i Department of Health authorized the reopening of Baan Thai Family Cuisine after issuing a green “pass” placard during a follow-up inspection on Friday.

The food establishment at 75-5744 Aliʻi Drive in Kailua-Kona is operated by Miyavadee Khamya.    

DOH required the restaurant to complete the following corrective actions, and the follow-up inspection determined these actions were completed:  

• Discard all contaminated food products
• Seal all holes and crevices
• Have a professional pest control operator service the establishment and submit the service report to the DOH
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect all food-contact and non-food-contact surfaces
• Remove unnecessary equipment and supplies
• Retrain employees on proper food organization and date marking
• Ensure all refrigeration units storing potentially hazardous food maintain proper temperature
• Have the mechanical dishwasher repaired
• Retrain employees on hand-washing sink use

The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed or sold.
