After serving sizzling steaks and prime rib on Kauaʻi for more than 50 years, the iconic Bull Shed Restaurant is expanding for the first time and crossing the channel to open a new location at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel on the Big Island.
On Kauaʻi, the restaurant built a loyal following over five decades with hearty steakhouse fare, fresh seafood and a welcoming atmosphere.
The Hilo restaurant offers many of the classics that made Bull Shed a household name on the Garden Island, while adding a handful of menu items inspired by Hawaiʻi Island.
Guests can start the day with a breakfast buffet or island-style breakfast dishes such as Paniolo loco moco, island French toast and acai bowls before returning later for cocktails, live music or dinner. The newly renovated Waiʻoli Lounge hosts a daily pau hana from 2:30 to 5 p.m. with drink specials, handcrafted cocktails and appetizers, while Friday and Saturday evenings feature a Prime Rib & Crab Buffet.
Executive Chef Ryan Brannigan, whose culinary career includes leadership roles at several luxury Hawaiʻi resorts, said the focus remains on preserving the restaurant’s signature flavors while embracing its new home on the Big Island.
“Bull Shed has earned a loyal following over more than five decades, and we’re excited to bring that same experience to Hawaiʻi Island for the first time,” said Matt Bailey, president of Castle Resorts & Hotels.
