National Restaurant Association, Resy to host hurricane preparedness webinar for restaurant operators
Restaurant owners and operators in Hawaiʻi will have an opportunity on Tuesday to learn practical strategies for preparing their businesses for hurricane season during a free online webinar hosted by the National Restaurant Association in partnership with Resy, a digital restaurant reservation platform.
The webinar, scheduled for July 28 at 2 p.m., comes as Hurricane Fausto moves across the Hawaiian chain.
The session will feature restaurant leaders and industry experts sharing firsthand experiences and recommendations for planning before a storm, responding during an emergency and recovering afterward.
Scheduled speakers include Alon Shaya, owner and founder of Pomegranate Hospitality; Tom Branighan, co-owner and executive chef of MaMou; and Larry Lynch, a food safety expert and consultant with the National Restaurant Association.
Organizers said the webinar will provide restaurant-specific guidance designed to help businesses improve resilience and reduce operational disruptions.
Topics will include developing a hurricane preparedness checklist, protecting employees, guests, and property, maintaining clear communication before, during, and after severe weather, and strategies for minimizing downtime and accelerating recovery efforts.
The program is intended for restaurant operators in hurricane-prone areas as well as businesses seeking to strengthen their emergency preparedness and business continuity plans.
