Nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center hosts another “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series talk in August.

Sue Theiss will be featured speaker during the free talk from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom. She will present “Conflict Is An Opportunity: How Mediators Can Work With Discomfort.”

Those interested in attending can register now online.

“How can you help others move through their distress towards a path of effective conflict resolution?” asks Theiss in an announcement for the upcoming talk.

Learn about the dynamics of interpersonal conflict and communication choices that promote resolution and ease discomfort along the way. This webinar provides current and potential mediators with basic tools to help others address interpersonal conflicts that can arise in a variety of settings.

Theiss has been an ombudsperson, providing conflict management services, including mediation and training, as well as a mediator for 30-plus years.

She served at Seattle University, Oregon State University, University of Arkansas and University of Arizona.

Ku‘ikahi’s lunch-and-learn series — hosted on the third Thursday of each month — is free and open to the public. It is made possible in part to funding from the Hawai‘i County and Hawai‘i Island United Way.
