Lane closures scheduled through July 24 on several roadways around Big Island

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures — planned for weekdays, unless otherwise noted — through July 24 on several Big Island roadways.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 0.0 and 36 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of new striping and pavement markers.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 23 and 25 in the vicinity of Aliʻi Kāne Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for striping.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 28 and 30 in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Hawaiian Electric removal of old power poles and conductors.

PĀHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 47 and 49 near Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 51.7 and 52.2 in the vicinity of Maile Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

HAWAIIAN OCEAN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 75 and 79 in the vicinity of Road To The Sea, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for striping.

KĪPĀHOEHOE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 93 and 95 in the vicinity of ʻŌhiʻa Malu Road and Kukui O Pae Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

KEALAKEKUA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 111 and 113 in the vicinity of Konawaena School Road and Trousseau Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

CAPTAIN COOK TO HŌLUALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 109 and 119 in the vicinity of Koa Road and Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HIGHWAY 19

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 0.8 and 2.3 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive and Hawaiʻi Belt Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

PĀPAʻIKOU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 8 and 8.5 in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road and Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge maintenance.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 17.9 and 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Stream Bridge.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 29.2 and 32 in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kāholo Stream Bridge.

PAʻAUILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 36 and 38 in the vicinity of Government Road and Old Government Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for shoulder work.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU TO PĀHOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 0.0 and 21.8 in the vicinity of Māmalahoa Highway and Kaimū-Chain of Craters Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HIGHWAY 200

UPPER WAIĀKEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 16 and 19.5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 18 for roadway emergency safety improvements.

PŌHAKULOA

  • SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mileposts 30 at 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.
