Hawaiʻi Island police arrested and charged a Honokaʻa man for allegedly using social media to entice a minor into sex acts.

An investigation was initiated June 17 after police received a report that a 23-year-old man, using Snapchat, exchanged sexually explicit messages throughout several days with a 14-year-old girl.

Hawaiʻi Police Department detectives on June 22 subsequently arrested Kainalu Palik without incident. Palik was charged June 23 with first-degree electronic enticement of a child.

He remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
