Blood Bank of Hawai‘i is calling on Kona donors to make an appointment and donate during their upcoming three-day blood drive in Kona.

With blood donations typically dropping off in the summer months due to schools being out and families on vacation, the nonprofift said donors are urgently needed to meet blood collection goals.

“Hawai‘i’s unique island geography makes maintaining a stable blood supply even more critical,” Blood Bank of Hawai‘i stated in a news release. “The participation of local donors statewide is essential in ensuring that Hawai‘i maintains a steady supply of blood.”

There are more than 300 available appointment slots open during the June 16-18 drive at the Keauhou Ballroom at the Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa, 78-128 Ehukai Street.

See the drive schedule below:

  • June 16 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • June 17 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m
  • June 18 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blood drives are held on Maui and Kaua‘i and in Kona and Hilo three times a year to ensure that residents across the state have the opportunity to donate. The next drive in West Hawai‘i will be in October. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit bbh.org or call 808-848-4770.
