Kicking, punching, biting: Hilo woman faces domestic charges against ex-boyfriend
A domestic incident during the weekend at a Hilo residence that allegedly involved threatening, hitting and biting her ex-boyfriend as well as kicking a police officer led to the arrest of a Hilo woman, who now faces several charges.
She is reported to have entered her ex-boyfriend’s residence without permission, threatened him while holding a 45-pound weighted exercise plate, struck him with open and closed left and right hands and fists, damaged his van and bit him on his upper back before fleeing the scene, according to Hawaiʻi Island police.

Hawai‘i County prosecuting attorney’s office reports 25-year-old Timberly Paiva is charged with:
- First-degree burglary
- First-degree terroristic threatening
- Abuse of a family or household member
- Fourth-degree criminal property damage
- First-degree assault against a law enforcement officer
Paiva made her initial appearance in Hilo District Court on Tuesday afternoon, May 19, during which her $96,000 bail was maintained and she was ordered to return Thursday, May 21, for a preliminary hearing.
First-degree burglary is the most serious offense she faces. The Class B felony carries a maximum 10-year prison term if convicted.
Terroristic threatening and first-degree assault against a law enforcement officer are Class C felonies, both punishable by up to a maximum 5 years in prison if convicted.
The prosecutor’s office said Paiva was arrested and charged following a Sunday, May 17, domestic incident at a Kaʻieʻie Place home.
Officers with Hawai‘i Police Department South Hilo Patrol located Paiva later that day at an ʻAuwae Road home, nearly 3.5 road miles from her ex-boyfriend’s residence on Kaʻieʻie Place.
During her arrest, she reportedly kicked an officer in the left knee.
The arrest and felony investigation were led by Hawai‘i Police Department South Hilo Patrol Officer Alexis Amon-Wilkins. Deputy Hawai‘i County Prosecuting Attorney Kirsten Selvig is prosecuting the case.
