Update at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16: The Hawaiʻi Police Department advises motorists to avoid Highway 130 in Keaʻau between the intersections of Orchidland Drive and Paradise Drive due to a traffic accident for the next 3 hours.

Daniel K. Inouye Highway reopened in both directions between Kaumana Drive and Mauna Kea Access Road at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Original story at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 15: Motorists are asked to avoid Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road) between Kaumana Drive and Mauna Kea Access Road in South Hilo.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department reports that Daniel K. Inouye Highway is closed in both directions between the 13- and 14-mile markers for the next three hours due to a vehicle collision and police investigation.
