Big Island residents in flood-prone areas should be prepared for heavy rain and potential flooding through Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch, indicating conditions are favorable for flooding throughout the island.

Road closures may occur without notice, and the public is advised not to cross flowing water in a vehicle or on foot. If lightning is in the area, the safest place to be is indoors.
